BEFORE PLAYING

Lane reservations can be made at the Park Hotel**** Bükfürdő reception,
in person, by phone at +36 70 44 88 102, or by email at [email protected]

We have 2 lanes, each comfortably accommodating 4–6 players.
Bowling shoes are mandatory; our staff disinfects them after every use.
Before the game, our staff will enter the player names into the system and start the lane for you.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Do not step over the black line! If you do, the throw will not be counted.
If you notice any malfunction, please inform the reception.
At the end of the game, please return the balls to the rack and place the shoes next to the cabinet.
Bowling balls are numbered from 6 to 16 — the higher the number, the heavier the ball. Choose the heaviest ball that still feels comfortable to throw.
The size of the finger holes also varies — if you can’t find a suitable ball near the lane, ask our staff at reception for help.

BOWLING TERMS

SPARE (/): All pins are knocked down with two throws. The next throw’s score is added as a bonus.
STRIKE (X): All 10 pins are knocked down with the first throw. The next two throws’ scores are added as a bonus.
SPLIT: A difficult situation where pins remain apart after the first throw, making it nearly impossible to knock them all down.

GAME BASICS

A game consists of ten frames. In each frame, you have two throws. The number of pins you knock down equals your score. If you cross the foul line, you get no points for that throw.
If you get a SPARE in the 10th frame, you earn one bonus throw. If you get a STRIKE, you earn two bonus throws.

A perfect game scores 300 points — that’s 12 strikes in a row!

CORRECT TECHNIQUE

  • Stand straight, facing the pins.
  • Keep your feet shoulder-width apart.
  • Hold the ball at chest height with both hands.
  • Most players use a 4- or 5-step approach.
  • Start slowly and controlled.
  • Speed up your steps as you approach the foul line.
  • As you move, swing the ball down and back.
  • At the top of the backswing, the ball should be about shoulder height.
  • Swing forward in sync with your steps.
  • On the final step, slide and release the ball smoothly.
  • Aim for the “pocket” — the area between the first and third pins.
  • Release the ball when it’s beside your foot, not in front or behind.
  • Follow through your arm motion upward and forward.
  • Keep your balance and hold the position until the ball hits the pins.

SCORING

The goal is to score as many points as possible in ten frames.
Points depend on whether all pins are knocked down in one or two throws.
If not all pins fall, your score for that frame is the number of pins knocked down (“open frame”).
If you knock down all pins in two throws (spare), the next throw’s points are added as a bonus.
If you knock down all pins in one throw (strike), the next two throws’ points are added.
In the 10th frame, bonus throws are granted for strikes or spares to calculate bonus points.

SCORING STEPS

Open frame: If not all pins are knocked down by the end of the frame, the score for that frame equals the number of pins knocked down.
Spare (/): If all pins are knocked down with two throws, the next throw’s score (the first bonus) is added to that frame’s total.
Strike (X): If all pins are knocked down with one throw, the next two throws’ scores (the two bonuses) are added to that frame’s total.
10th frame:
If the player scores a spare in the 10th frame, they receive one bonus throw.
If the player scores a strike in the 10th frame, they receive two bonus throws.
