Simon-Júdás market 2022
Finally, the Simon Júdás Fair will be held again! Overcoming the vicissitudes of the COVID period, this year there will be a fair bustle 30 km from the Park Hotel, in the city of Sárvár. In one of the most anticipated street events of 2022, catering units will open on October 28 from 6 pm in the fair area, and on this day, Sárvár residents traditionally visit the fair in large numbers. On October 29, hundreds of vendors will offer their wares in the city center.
The history of the unloading fair goes back more than 600 years. It still preserves old traditions today, but it has changed a lot to meet the needs of today.
During the reign of King Sigismund, the streets were filled with the heavenly smell of fried sausages, which could be paired with fine wines for those arriving at the fair. Visitors were not only treated to delicious food and drinks, but also entertained by entertaining performances. The main venue of the fair was the main street of Sárvár between the two world wars. In later years, the hustle and bustle moved to other locations several times. In the 80s, the fair programs were made even more colorful by the Folk Dance Circle Cultural Association. At first, the association only played the role of program organizer, but later became the main director of the fair. October 28, 1984 was the first fair when they tried to smuggle folk art programs into the programs. At that time, the venue was the area of the former brickyard lake. Over the years, it became clear that neither the location nor the quality of the fair organization was adequate, so a decision was made that the right to organize the fair should be transferred to someone else.
