Velemi Chestnut Days 2022
Come with me! This year, the Velem Chestnut Days, one of the most atmospheric and most visited outdoor events in the area, will be held between October 15-16. In keeping with tradition, the two-day event will feature gastronomic specialties related to chestnuts, folk art performances, dance and music programs. Based on the experiences of recent years, the event has gained immense popularity.
One of the special plants of the Kőszeg Mountains is the sweet chestnut, the ambassador of the Mediterranean landscapes. It will be held for the 31st time throughout the Velem area, commemorating centuries-old traditions. The main theme of the event is chestnut roasting, made with a technique inherited from our ancestors, and the brown eyes will blush in unique pans over the flames of hornbeam and beech wood. At the event, visitors have the opportunity to taste chestnut delicacies, honey and horn cakes, langalló, and enjoy performances by the most famous county and national performers, folk musicians, dancers, and cheerful fair comedians.
Craftsmen cannot be missing from the program series either: ceramists, basket weavers, blacksmiths, and many other craftsmen offer their wares. Vendors entice guests from the entrance of the village to the Alkotóház, the event venue.
