Csepreg

Relatively few may know the name of the small town located only 2 kilometers from Bük, but recent research by historians may give a new importance to the town: it is becoming increasingly certain that Mór Jókai’s lines on the Pentecostal kingdom in his novel called “A Hungarian Nabob” were inspired by the horse races held in Csepreg from the 1810s. The former market town is nowadays a paradise for anglers: three lakes await fishing enthusiasts just a few hundred meters from the residential area. The area of the Lake Bene-hegy may be Csepreg’s most important tourist attraction with new-wave wineries appearing one after the other on the banks offering tempting wine tastings and tours.
